It is day 5 of the fair.  Investigators have identified 26 people who experienced diarrhea after attending the fair.  Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of E coli 0157. Investigators are currently in various locations at the fairgrounds
Childhood_Lead.zip

This exercise will cover a mock investigation of elevated childhood blood lead levels in a Columbia neighborhood. You will bring in blood lead results and join them to home locations using ArcView. You will also relate soil sample results from a local park to the sample locations and hyperlink photographs of those locations to the map.

air_quality.zip

This exercise will cover a mock investigation into increased asthma emergency room visits in the St. Louis area. You will bring emergency room visit and air quality data into ArcView. You will then export maps that show the total number of visits as compared to total ozone in a 24-hour period.

Sedalia_barns.zip

The exercise is one of several that were developed from the June 2005 GIS field exercise at the Missouri State Fairgrounds. This task involves the investigation of livestock barns. Use document fair_ex1.pdf (contained in zip file) for instructions.

monthly_ex3.zip

This exercise will cover a mock chemical spill that has occurred near the Jefferson City Airport. You will be bringing in field data as reported from field response teams into ArcView and performing required evaluations. You will then export a map for the incident commander to show the field collection sites and the amount of chemical found at each site. Unzip this file and follow the directions on monthly_ex3.pdf.

pdf file monthly_ex2.pdf

This exercise will focus on Influenza, and where high risk individuals are located for your area. Use the 2000 census data to determine where populations 65 years + and 0-4 years are located. Include major roads and cities as a reference.

pdf file monthly_ex1.pdf

Create a map that contains a map of your county and the locations of the medical facilities and local public health department offices. The map should also show the cities and towns as well as major roads. The health department offices should be labeled with their office names.
