State Board of Health
The State Board of Health serves as an advisory body for activities
of the department. It consists of seven members appointed by the
governor and confirmed by the Senate. Members serve four-year terms.
Missouri law (RSMo 191.400) specifies that three members shall
be licensed physicians or surgeons; one member shall be a licensed
dentist; one member shall be a licensed chiropractic physician;
and the other two members shall be persons other than those licensed
by the State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts or the
Missouri Dental Board and shall be representative of those persons,
professions and businesses which are regulated and supervised by
the Department of Health and Senior Services and the State Board
of Health.
The State Board of Health advises the director of the Department
in planning for and operating the department; and acts in an advisory
capacity regarding rules promulgated by the Department.
