State Board of Health

The State Board of Health serves as an advisory body for activities of the department. It consists of seven members appointed by the governor and confirmed by the Senate. Members serve four-year terms. Missouri law (RSMo 191.400) specifies that three members shall be licensed physicians or surgeons; one member shall be a licensed dentist; one member shall be a licensed chiropractic physician; and the other two members shall be persons other than those licensed by the State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts or the Missouri Dental Board and shall be representative of those persons, professions and businesses which are regulated and supervised by the Department of Health and Senior Services and the State Board of Health.

The State Board of Health advises the director of the Department in planning for and operating the department; and acts in an advisory capacity regarding rules promulgated by the Department.
